The abandoned farms have typical local architecture and rare stony walls, which surround the abandoned meadows.

Nanos je 1313m visok hrib, ki ločuje celinski del Slovenije od Primorja.Je 12 km dolga in do 6 km široka kraška planota s strmo odrezanim robom, imenovanim Pleša. Poleg Snežnika je najbolj značilna gora na Notranjskem. Iz Nanosa se razteza čudovit pogled v smeri slovenskega dela Alp ter v smeri Snežnika in Primorja. Planota je kot pohodniška točka dostopna tudi za družine z majhnimi otroki.
